Assessing Gombe State Citizens’ Attitude And Perception Towards Nigeria’s Cashless Policy

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) introduced the cashless policy in 2011, which eventually took effect 2012. aim amongst others is to reduce amount physical cash circulating economy and encouraging more electronic-based transactions. objective this study review CBN Gombe State assess peoples’ behavior attitudes towards since its inception. Questionnaires were administered on 300 bank customers across 11 Local Government Areas (LGAs) State. findings revealed that 65% respondents do not know what all about, 80% are happy with introduction cash-lite (Cashless) points such as Automated Teller Machines, Point Sales, Internet Banking etc. As an interim verdict, 25% believe necessary, 24% approach implementation best 43% will succeed. recommends banks’ branches channels need be established especially other LGAs; there also consolidate infrastructural development; financial literacy for all.
